Banned Books Week

Currently at the library is a display for Banned Books Week. 
This is the 30th year celebrating the Freedom to Read. 

The first Amendment of the United States Constitution

guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

Individuals may restrict what they themselves or their

children read, but they must not call on government or

public agencies to prevent others from reading or viewing

that material.  When a title is challenged, someone has tried

to restrict another person’s ability to choose.  Many award

winning books are challenged each year.  Stop by at the

Merrimack Public Library to check out some BANNED and
