On the Homefront in the Civil War

The library will welcome Dr. Jere Daniell on Wednesday, May 9, at 7 pm for a lecture on New Hampshire Towns in the Civil War. Dr. Daniell will talk about the role communities played in recruiting soldiers and sailors, forming regiments, caring for the widows and children of the fallen, and honoring the dead after the war.

Dr. Daniell is Professor Emeritus of History at Dartmouth College. He has spoken widely around the state on topics related to the history of New Hampshire. This event is made possible by a grant from the Humanties-to-Go program of the New Hampshire Humanities Council.

The New Hampshire Humanities Council nurtures the joy of learning and inspires community engagement by bringing life-enhancing ideas from the humanities to the people of the Granite State. We are proud to partner with NHHC and are grateful for the wonderful events we are able to bring to Merrimack through that partnership. Visit the NHHC website at http://www.nhhc.org/.

This event will be enjoyed by adults and teens. Registration is recommended by visiting our calendar, emailing or calling 424-5021.
