Last week I accompanied a group of readers to hear a talk at Barnes and Noble in Nashua. The guest of honor was Chris Bohjalian and his newest book was issued the day before. The Night Strangers is an excellent choice for an October read, with a plane crash, ghosts and probably witches. I've been on the reserve list for this title since June, so I was first in line on Tuesday when it was ready for check-out, but I only made it to page 37 before meeting the author. (Work does seem to interfere with fun.)
It was a pleasure to hear the author describe the process of writing, including experiencing simulated water landings and many hours of conversations with flight personnel. He gave us hints on surviving a plane crash. And YES he still enjoys flying. Like him, the pilot and crew love what they do and are very accomplished at it.
