Will the Circle Be Unbroken?

Fiddler Ellen Carlson ("Fiddling Styles") will return to the library on Wednesday, June 22, at 7 pm for another program of traditional music. Again, she will perform with Mary Dellea to present Will the Circle Be Unbroken: The History of Woman in Traditional Music.

Traditional or "roots" music, such as that heard in the soundtrack of "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"covers diverse genres that grew out of the unique American experience, spreading throughout the country during the heartbreaking years of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. In a male-dominated arena, women performers struggled to make their voices heard. Carlson and Dellea will perform typical women's songs and showcase the performers.

This program is generously co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Reservations are recommended by going to our calendar, calling 424-5021, or emailing mmkpl@merrimack.lib.nh.us.
