After School Storytime Shoe Project

Here's an update about a new program in the Children's Room!

Our After School Storytime Group has been very busy with a new cause: collecting new and gently used footwear to send to kids who can't afford shoes and sneakers.

A few weeks ago, we read books about shoes and children who couldn't afford them. One of our favorites, "New Old Shoes" by Charlotte Blessing was about how a pair of red sneakers traveled from a boy in America to the eager feet of children in Africa where they were happily worn and used, but never worn out.

We decided to collect shoes to send to Soles4Souls, an organization that gives children all over the world the gift of all kinds of shoes. We have a special box decorated next to the door of the Children's Room.

Anyone can donate new or gently used children's footwear to our box until October 31st!

So awesome, Pat! Thanks for partnering with us to change the world one pair at a time! We love it when we see people teaching kids about charity by donating their old shoes! If possible, we'd love for you to keep us updated on our Facebook (www.facebook.com/giveshoes). If you have any pictures when kids come in to donate shoes or cool stories, we'd love to hear about it!

Thanks again,
Jeremy, S4S staff
