Popular Music of the Gaslight Era

John Root will present a program of "Popular Music of the Gaslight Era" on Wednesday, September 8, at 7 pm. The Gaslight Era, the period 1890-1920, produced many songs that have endured to this day. The songs lyrics offer a snapshot of the customs and values of a bygone day. The audience will be invited to sing along to experience the emotions evoked by the music.

If John looks familiar, it's because this is his second visit to the Merrimack Public Library. He visited us in June 2009 for a presentation on crop circles, which was both visually stunning and a subject of much discussion by the audience. John is a man of many talents, being an educator and naturalist, as well as a musician. We're happy that he's willing to come from central Massachusetts to share his programs with us. Visit John's website.

Seating is limited, and we'd appreciate it if you'd register by clicking here or calling 424-5021.
