We will welcome Marina Forbes to the library on Wednesday, August 18 at 7 pm. She will present a slide program, "Traditional Matryoshka Nested Doll Making: From Russia to New Hampshire." She will take you on a tour of a doll-making factory in rural Russia and discuss the cultural and artistic significance of these beautiful dolls. You'll see stunning examples of this beautiful fine art.
Marina Forbes has been a lecturer, historian, artist, iconographer, storyteller, and teacher for more than 20 years. A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, she leads several customized tours to Russia each year. She is Director of International Programs at the New England Language Center in Rochester, NH, which offers intensive programs in 16 languages and ESL, as well as translation and interpreter services. She is a presenter for the NH Arts Council and the NH Humanities Council, which has provided the funding for her visit to Merrimack under the Humanities-to-Go program. There's more to her biography than I can list here, but let's just say she's a very busy lady. We are very pleased she could fit us into her schedule.
