We are please to host author Michaeline Della Fera at the library on Wednesday, October 14, at 7 pm. She will discuss her book, Women at the Table: 40 Intimate Profiles of Political Women of the Northeast, and introduce some of the book's subjects, who will be in the audience.
Each of the women in the book has a unique story of why and how she entered the political arena. Most began their political journey on the local level, organizing school and community projects and becoming a go-to person before moving on to higher office. They tell of the challenges of staying grounded in a media-intrusive world as they try to make a difference in large and small ways.
Among the NH women profiled are Merrimack State Representative Maureen Mooney, NH House Speaker Teri Norelli, Nashua Mayor Donnalee Lozeau, and former NH Attorney General Kelly Ayotte. Powerful women from each New England state are featured. In a special section titled "Barrier Breakers," Della Fera looks at the careers of women like former gubernatorial candidate Deborah "Arnie" Arneson and former NH House Speaker Donna Sytek, both of whom paved the way for the current generation of female leaders.
