Food For Fines

It's hard to believe in this land of plenty that many people are dependent on the kindness of strangers for a warm meal. Once again, the library is looking for your help to keep the shelves of local food pantries stocked and ready for that meal. February is Food for Fines Month at the library. You may clear old or current overdue charges by donating non-perishable food items which will be distributed to Merrimack's food pantries. Please check the expiration date before donating so we can promise that the food is still edible. So if you have fines on your account or library books that are late and you don't have the money to pay the fines, just bring in the books with the food donation, and we'll make those fines go away. This applies only to fines; charges for lost materials must be paid in full. This is a great way to clear your financial obligation to the library while helping someone who really needs it. And when you go to sleep with a full tummy and a smile, you know someone else will, too.
