Reference librarians in public libraries get all kinds of questions. Not too much can surprise me or shock me anymore, but I do like it when I get questions that break the routine. I like some variety in my questions and every now and then I will get some gems that make me appreciate the diversity of information that a public library keeps.
I really appreciate the moments when I am asked to retrieve information on how to incubate chicken eggs for one patron, and then five minutes later find three operas on video for another. I am able to go from the barnyard to the opera house in the blink of an eye. Diverse questions that break the everyday patterns are always welcome. Go ahead give me your best shot!
